It's what most of us wish we could be...
Profound
Wise
And yet we spare no words from being said
never curbing our instincts
Or crafting the perfect phrase
Instead creating a spectacle of ourselves
Not admitting to ourselves that the profound
often aren't iridescent
They blend into the background until it's time to speak
But some people have no idea that there is a time to speak
Or a time not to
Many of us continue chasing the idea of being profound
Failing so
and watching it slip from our fingertips
as quickly as it slips from our lips
Many of us say as much as possible
hoping that a word of wisdom would sneak through
despite almost all of it being barely palatable
Everything said being so obvious, mundane...
Boring.
A wise person is wary of what's being said
A fool is barely aware of what they say themselves
It's a great shame that Wisdom would be so elusive...
She beguiles those who seek her,
Captivates,
disarms,
almost devilish in her ways
Seen only by hearing so that
In the raging storm of fools around us
Using sonar seems to be the only way that we won't lose our way
and while many clamor to be seen,
golden torches shining in the light
Wisdom will continue to elude
and their vanity will be their demise

Bad Girl...
Maybe I'm a fool, but, looking into your eyes is something...
magical...
Mesmerizing, enchanting, captivating
For an instant I feel like there's nothing else.
And if there is, I don't want it.
You've been blessed with beauty that would make most men question everything they ever believed.
Holding you in my arms makes me feel like I don't ever have to defend myself from anything ever again.
I am...
complete.
Your skin, soft...
with the gentlest touch, I'm melted.
And can't envision a future without your smile.
The way you taste...
the way you smell...
it makes me feel like I've finally found everything I thought I was missing... But...
You're broken.
You forgot how to love.
It's the most fearful thing, Aphrodite.
So much power and potential, all taken to the worst extremes.
You're hurting, so you hurt.
You long for someone to see beyond the smile,
to know that there's more beauty to you, inside,
but when you reveal it to others,
it seems that you may have been mistaken.
What if you are the villain?
What if what they say is right? I don't know.
I just know that when you are here.
In reality.
In person.
For those short instances in eternity,
you're perfect.
Inside and out.
So I want nothing less.
Your heart, mind, body.
Because I know it would never last.
But for a moment, we can have forever.

This Isn't a Poem...
Something about her makes me want to write poetry
But I'm not a poet
I think she loves this kind of thing
But you would never know it
I'm listening for the words
Any
Stop, Go, Yes, No
Plenty
But they never come
That's fine
I hate writing poetry.
I can't rhyme.
So I don't
No more poems
No more songs
No more sonatas
So I won't
From now on it's just dreams
about you
Because the art just isn't the same
without you
The words don't work
the pictures are fuzzy
The gifts are gone
and so is the money
Just a pen and a paper
that's too bad
Because this isn't a poem
It's just a collection of words I've heard over the years and compiled into something other than tears, fears and passions, just thoughts. No paintings, no captions, anything but art, but everything for you. For her. For them. For us.
But I'm not a poet

The Same Story....
We all want to be the heroes of our own story.
We slay our own dragons and the world looks on in awe.
They throw us a parade because without us, all hope would be lost
We get the girl or the guy, and a happily ever after in the palace
Our children grow up to look at us as something to live up to
They see an image to imitate
But the truth is
If we were all heroes then who would be in the crowds?
Some of us will live and die and only our loved ones will notice
We'll cheer from the sidelines of the parade
As some soot-stained warrior holds the head of the monster high in the air
We'll take pictures and place them on the mantle next to ours
And our children will point and dream to be just like them
But the truth is
If they all became heroes, then who would be in the crowds?
So as I wake up in the morning and choose
Between the suit of armor or the suit and tie
I'll take my sword up the mountain
Because even if I never come back
You will never see me in the crowds.
We slay our own dragons and the world looks on in awe.
They throw us a parade because without us, all hope would be lost
We get the girl or the guy, and a happily ever after in the palace
Our children grow up to look at us as something to live up to

Nobody's Hero
I can't out run a speeding locomotive
I can't fly
I'm not the most honorable man
I do lie
My weaknesses are guns, knives fists
and girls
My powers are reading and writing
My arch enemy is the world
Everyone knows my alter-ego
he looks just like me
I once was thanked by a damsel
It sounded like "bite me"
But I met this girl one day
remarkable
She made me feel invincible
unharmable
Like I had wings, dreams and wonderful things
Like as long as she's around
I'm the king
when I'm with this damsel
there is no distress
like when I look in her eyes there's none other
than my mistress
She's my sun,
superman's got nothing on me
I'm the one
nothing can stop me, only
she
her
you
So even though I'm nobody's hero
She makes me feel good...
so good...
thanks girl...
Only you could make me feel like I'm on the top of the world
I can't fly
I'm not the most honorable man
I do lie
My weaknesses are guns, knives fists
and girls
My powers are reading and writing
My arch enemy is the world

Taking the Chance
Excuse me miss, would you mind if I fell in love with you from far away?
I can never seem to muster up the right words to say.
I've been here, doing the same things, in the same place,
but I've only found peace when I see your face.
I'll talk to you tomorrow, and tell you how I feel,
but right now I'm just not ready to present my appeal.
Right now I'm dealing with a head full of nerves and a fistful of sweat,
and a picture full of curves and potential regrets.
This might be the hardest thing I've had to do yet.
I procrastinate until it's just about too late.
and I just have to settle with "it'll happen if it's really fate"
I don't think you would have said yes anyway...
I can never seem to muster up the right words to say.
I've been here, doing the same things, in the same place,

Sense of it all...
I'm trying my hardest to make it make sense,
but the pieces don't fit and i'm losing patience.
I'm feeling lost like I don't know where the day went.
I guess it's back to basics.
I wake up with her next to me in the morning.
I want to kiss her lips and taste the words they're forming.
Man she looks beautiful in the clothes she's adorning.
She's leaving and I don't even get a warning...
I remember the last time this happened.
I got second place to fashion
To be honest, I've never been her passion
and now I'm spoken of in the past tense.
I thought I had it all figured out
At first you couldn't find a girl more devout.
I can still see her cute face when she would go into a pout.
But I guess good looks and a great smile aren't all that love is about.
I saw her last night in my dream.
She was wearing my heart on her sleeve
With my tears in her seams...
All I could hope for was an angel to intervene...
that's the last thing that will happen, it would seem...
but the pieces don't fit and i'm losing patience.
I'm feeling lost like I don't know where the day went.
I guess it's back to basics.
I wake up with her next to me in the morning.
