Wisdom

It's what most of us wish we could be...
Profound
Wise
And yet we spare no words from being said
never curbing our instincts
Or crafting the perfect phrase
Instead creating a spectacle of ourselves
Not admitting to ourselves that the profound
often aren't iridescent
They blend into the background until it's time to speak
But some people have no idea that there is a time to speak
Or a time not to
Many of us continue chasing the idea of being profound
Failing so
and watching it slip from our fingertips
as quickly as it slips from our lips
Many of us say as much as possible
hoping that a word of wisdom would sneak through
despite almost all of it being barely palatable
Everything said being so obvious, mundane...
Boring.
A wise person is wary of what's being said
A fool is barely aware of what they say themselves
It's a great shame that Wisdom would be so elusive...
She beguiles those who seek her,
Captivates,
disarms,
almost devilish in her ways
Seen only by hearing so that
In the raging storm of fools around us
Using sonar seems to be the only way that we won't lose our way
and while many clamor to be seen,
golden torches shining in the light
Wisdom will continue to elude
and their vanity will be their demise
